The label tool at /tools/ai-label was unusable in Safari. You could choose a photograph and answer the question about it, and instead of a preview you were told that the badge typeface had not loaded and that nothing had been drawn. There was no preview to look at and no file to take away.
It affected Safari and every browser built on the same engine, which on an iPhone or an iPad is all of them. Chrome, Edge and Firefox were never affected, which is why the fault went unnoticed for a while — and phones are where photographs most often come from.
What was wrong. The tool confirmed once, when the page opened, that the typeface used for the badge was available, and relied on that for the rest of your visit. Safari is entitled to release a typeface it is not currently drawing with, and it does — so by the time you had chosen a photograph and answered the question, the typeface was no longer loaded. Rather than draw the badge in whatever substitute the browser offered, and hand you a badge of the wrong width, the tool refused and said so.
What changed. The tool now confirms the typeface immediately before it draws each badge, at the exact size that badge needs. Nothing about how the badge looks, where it sits, or what it says has changed.
The refusal itself stays. If the typeface genuinely cannot be loaded, the tool still tells you rather than drawing a badge that would be the wrong size for your photograph.
