Content Credentials now follow the conformance rules

The signed record travelling with every export was rebuilt into the shape the C2PA conformance programme requires. It now names us as its author, states the specification version it follows, and says plainly whether it lists every step we performed.

Every file leaving this platform carries Content Credentials — a signed record of what the file is and what was done to it. Until now that record was true in what it said and wrong in how it was assembled. Verification tools accepted it; the C2PA conformance programme, which examines the record's structure rather than its wording, rejected it on three separate counts.

The statement about the file is now attributed to us. Our own description of how the image was made was filed as though we had collected it from somewhere else. That is a misstatement about authorship as much as a structural fault — we wrote it, and the record now says so.

Every file names the specification version it follows. The record left that unsaid, which meant a reader had to guess which edition of the standard our statements were written against. It is now declared.

A file now says whether its list of steps is complete. For generated images and for exports carrying a visible label we name every step we performed, and the record claims completeness. For a photograph you uploaded, preparing it for the catalogue rotates it to its declared orientation, flattens transparency and caps its longer edge — steps we do not name one by one — and the record now declares the list incomplete rather than claiming otherwise. It is your photograph under our signature, so understating what we did to it was the one thing we could not do.

Enhancement is no longer described as generation. An upscale is now named as an algorithmic enhancement, and a label burned into the pixels as software-produced imagery. Neither produced model-generated pixels, and a verification tool reports the difference.

The pictures are unchanged, as is the signature over them and the chain back to whatever the file already said about itself before it reached us. What changed is the shape of the record — the programme's checks on its structure now pass, and a merchant reading one of our files in an external tool sees an intact statement rather than a malformed one.
