Opening an image full screen has always offered arrows and the keyboard, both of which assume a pointer. On a phone or tablet the only way to reach the next image was to aim at a small control in the corner of the screen.
The viewer now moves between images with a horizontal swipe. It works everywhere the enlarged view is available — the packshots gallery, the packshots tab on a product, and the marketplace galleries.
Swiping is deliberately limited to an image at its normal size. Once you pinch to zoom in, the same horizontal drag moves around the enlarged photo instead of jumping to the next one, so inspecting the detail of a shot never costs you your place in the gallery. Zoom back out and the swipe returns.
The sample-session pages we prepare for new customers were reworked at the same time: photographs are shown whole rather than cropped to squares, and every photograph can be downloaded on its own or all at once as a single archive.
