A tile that is being retried now says so

A generation that did not succeed on the first attempt now explains itself on the tile instead of showing a bare spinner, and a brief the model refuses fails at once with its credits returned.

Not every generation succeeds on the first attempt. When one does not, the platform tries again — and until now it did so silently: the tile kept showing the same progress spinner it shows for an ordinary generation, through as many as five attempts. From your side of the screen there was nothing to distinguish a take being retried from one that was simply slow.

The tile now says what is happening. From the second attempt onwards it carries a short line explaining why the generation is being repeated, together with the attempt number and how many are allowed — Attempt 2 of 5. The first attempt stays silent on purpose: most repeats clear immediately, and announcing one that is about to succeed would interrupt work for no reason.

After several attempts the wording changes. From the fourth attempt, and whenever a generation has been stuck for more than a few minutes, the line stops explaining and starts pointing at what would help — usually adjusting the brief. That is the point at which repeating the same request has stopped being likely to work.

A brief the model refuses now fails immediately. Some briefs are declined by the image provider on content grounds before any picture is made. Previously the session's tiles kept spinning until a timeout eventually cleared them, which could take a quarter of an hour. Such a brief now fails as soon as the refusal arrives, the tiles say that the request did not pass content checks, and the reserved credits are returned at that moment rather than at the end of a long wait.

Generations that never start are cleared on a schedule. A generation can stall before it begins, at the point where the brief is being prepared. Clearing those used to depend on other work flowing through the platform, so on a quiet account a stalled generation could hold its credits indefinitely. It now runs on its own timer, independently of anything else you have in progress.

Two things this deliberately does not change. Videos are unaffected — their tiles do not carry retry information yet. And nothing about how many attempts a generation gets has changed: the limits are the same, only what you are told about them is new.
